The North American NA-35 is a twin-engine trainer aircraft that was developed by North American Aviation in the United States during the 1930s. It was designed to meet a requirement from the United States Army Air Corps for a modern and capable trainer aircraft to replace the aging aircraft then in use.
The NA-35, also known as the NA-38 or the AT-17, was a low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear and was powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-985 engines. It was primarily used as a trainer for bomber pilots, but also saw service as a utility transport, cargo carrier, and air ambulance during World War II.
In total, North American Aviation produced over 5,000 NA-35s between 1939-1945, and the aircraft remains an important part of aviation history. Today, a number of restored and well-maintained NA-35s can be seen at aviation museums and airshows around the world.
